During the hot month of June, we had many programs happening in the MFI Community Center in Kabarto Camp. With each season we love to provide an open space for those who want to grow and expand their learning and abilities.

Young adults and people with different ages were able to come and participate in Computer, English, and Children’s programs. Along with our local Yazidi staff, it was a joy to see those that came to the community center go back home encouraged and challenged to continue to grow. One of our MFI teachers who taught the Art Program said, “It was a lovely time of being creative. It definitely helped to improve their confidence and self-esteem.”

Besides running ongoing programs in our MFI Community Center in Kabarto and in our MFI Center in the local community of Qasara, we are grateful this month to also be running programs in a Syrian Camp! In Domiz, (the Syrian Camp) we taught Beginners English. Every Wednesday, those that participated in this program were able to advance in vocabulary. Along with that, they were able to grow in confidence of expression by using tools such as interactive games and group activities.

Another fun program that was going on in Domiz Camp was an Art Class for children! To be able to create an environment for children to be free and creative is a blessing to be a part of!

This April, we had the privilege here in Iraqi Kurdistan, to teach and see Kurdish youth from the host community learn Beginners and Advanced English. They also were able to learn different levels of Art.

Not only do we run programs from our MFI community center in Kabarto Camp, but we have loved being able to reach out and teach as many as we can in other locations as well! These students were able to grow in language learning, sports, computer, cooking, health, aerobics, farm and agriculture etc. Depending on each individual’s skill level, they were able to participate in either Beginner Level, Intermediate Level or Advanced English. We are very proud of all our students who put forth great effort to learn and grow.

In total, we ran thirty-seven programs this month in three different locations. Both children and teenagers had the privilege of having MFI volunteers teach them from many different nations in the world! Due to their situation, many feel as if they can’t dream and have no future. We are honored as MFI to see these youth gain hope through these programs and desire for them to have a brighter future.
